Orthodontics

Many adult patients dream of having straighter teeth, but are put off by the thought of conventional metal bracket and wire braces, which as well as being very obvious are known for having long treatment times – often up to 2 years. So many patients feel caught in a trap – embarrassed about their smile but unwilling to undergo lengthy and equally embarrassing treatment to correct it. Fortunately, there are now many discreet orthodontic solutions available to patients of all ages. Here at Church House Dental Practice we offer virtually invisible orthodontic treatments with clear braces and clear aligners.

Clear Aligners

Using a practically invisible system of clear aligners, a range of orthodontic problems can be treated with tooth alignment and bite (how your teeth meet together). Each set of aligners is individually tailored to fit your mouth for maximum comfort and the best possible results. On average you will change your aligners every 2 to 4 weeks, as they gradually adjust the position of your teeth. You will be given a retainer to wear at the end of treatment so that your teeth remain in their new position. Your orthodontist will also be able to show you your projected results on the computer so that you know exactly what to expect. Unlike conventional braces, clear aligners are also removable, meaning that you can take them out to eat and drink, as well as to brush your teeth so that you can maintain good oral hygiene during treatment. Treatment times vary from patient to patient and will depend on the complexity of your case. The average treatment time is just 18 months.

Clear braces

Clear braces are a relatively new orthodontic system in the UK, but have been available in the USA for more than 20 years to correct a range of orthodontic problems with a vastly reduced treatment time. Depending on your individual needs, treatment with these braces can be completed between 3 and 12 months. Clear braces use clear brackets and wires, meaning that they are practically invisible and so it will not be obvious that you are having orthodontic treatment.

You will need to visit the Practice every 4-8 weeks to have your braces adjusted, and at the end of treatment will need to wear a retainer for short periods during the day.
