Children’s Teeth

At Church House Dental Practice we believe in preventative dental care and encourage our patients to bring their children to see us from an early age.

Regular dental health examinations from a young age will ensure your child won’t suffer from any untreated dental decay, which can have a devastating effect on their growing teeth. They will also grow up comfortable and confident in a dental environment and will understand that we are not scary after all!

There are a number of preventative treatments that our team can provide for your child.

Fluoride applications are a safe and effective way to safeguard your growing child’s teeth from developing decay. The fluoride is painted onto the surface of their teeth and this helps to mineralise them.

Fissure sealants are tooth-coloured and applied to biting surfaces of children’s teeth to prevent decay.

Preventing dental phobia

Studies have shown that the younger a child is brought to a dental practice, the more likely they are to have a positive experience and grow up unafraid of the dentist. We encourage parents to bring their babies with them to their own dental health examinations to show them there is nothing to be fearful of.

Our team will take special care of your child making them feel safe and cared for – and will let them have a go in the ‘big chair’!

Treating a child from an early age also allows your dentist to spot early signs of underbites, cross bites or overbites developing. As with most things, the sooner we can start to treat issues, the quicker they can be resolved.

Prevention is always better than cure so contact our practice today to make an appointment for your child.
