Maria Abril Hurtado
BDS, MSC Implantology
Maria originally qualified in 1987 and moved to Spain in 1992, where she continued her postgraduate training and specialized in implant, advanced oral and periodontal surgery. From managing her own Practice in Madrid she relocated to the UK in 2010 and is now firmly established as the Principal dentist of Church House in Shoreham by Sea.
Maria is also qualified in conscious sedation and works closely with our other dentists, ensuring that nervous patients remain calm and relaxed, no matter what treatment they require.
Outside of work, Maria enjoys gardening, travel, hiking, swimming and ocean kayaking.
Nikoletta Kafantari
DDS (GREECE) MSC ENDODONTICS (EASTMAN)
Nikoletta Kafantari was selected in the MSc programme of Endodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute University London in 2010, and whilst being the youngest candidate she completed it with distinction.
Nikoletta has gained clinical experience in the past in Private practices both in Greece and in UK and has participated in research programmes regarding new advances in Endodontics in Universities in both countries. Her specific interest has been the identification of the factors associated with weakening of teeth as a result of endodontic treatment.
Presently, Nikoletta is based in Shoreham-by-sea and is working as an Endodontist in private practices across Sussex.
Nikoletta has gained the required experience to analyse endodontic problems, discuss available options and select the appropriate treatment for each patient. She can systematically plan the management of an endodontic problem and has the clinical and surgical skills to execute it with a high degree of competence.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor sports.
Nader Fallah
BDS, MSC Periodontology
After completing his dental studies at the University of Glasgow, Nader set up his practice in London where he developed a keen interest in restorative dentistry and periodontology. This interest led him to study for his Masters in Periodontology, and now his work is mainly limited to the treatment of gums.
In his spare time, he follows the fortunes of his beloved Q.P.R. football team and is a keen aviator.
Sara-Jane Salman
BDS (Sheff.) MJDF RCS (Eng)
Dr Sara-Jane Salman ,qualified from Sheffield university in 2009 and relocated from Norfolk to Brighton. She takes pride in her work and has completed the Dr Chris Orr Advanced Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry course in London.
She would say her greatest strength is her excellent communication skills, thus building a good rapport with patients from a wide range of backgrounds. Her smiley and empathetic face is always waiting to greet them. Her calming manner, repeated reassurance and praise help to relax even the most anxious patients.
She has an interest in transforming smiles with whitening, fixed and removable braces.
Outside of work Sara-Jane likes to paint, and discover Brighton and Hove’s wonderful eateries.

Lorraine Backshall
Lorraine first joined the Practice in 1985 and rejoined when the Practice relocated in 2002. She is a most experienced nurse and capable member of staff who has not only raised 3 children but has also set up and run her own nursery. She is a fully registered Dental Nurse.
Anna Roberts
Anna originally came to Church House as a trainee dental nurse, but with her attention to detail and organisational skills, it soon became apparent that she would be a valuable asset in reception. Moreover, she has several years experience in the retail sector and so is well versed in customer service.
Away from work, Anna enjoys shopping and socialising with friends.
Bob Harris
Bob is a medical microbiologist and research scientist, and has spent many years travelling the world developing new antiviral drugs and overseeing clinical trials. He has been a Director of several scientific and educational companies since 1985 and so brings considerable management and business experience to the Practice.
Bob’s knowledge of medicinal aromatic plants led to his involvement with a French Non Governmental Organisation for the protection of the forests of Madagascar, where he developed a passion for conservation, forest trekking and of course, lemurs.
